SONY INVEST CASH ON LCD TVS

Sony is reportedly planning to invest more than $1.1 billion in a LCD TV panel venture with Sharp, making good on their word from a year ago. The electronics giant announced last year that it planned to join forces with Sharp to manage a $4-plus billion LCD panel factory in western Japan.

While Sony initially planned to take a 34% stake in the endeavor, the companies have yet to outline a final agreement on the stake and investment split. Both reportedly plan on closing the deal by the end of this month. Sony’s upfront investment is expected to be between $527.2 and $632.64 million, and will gradually rise to (or beyond) $1.1 billion. The hope is that the deal will secure it enough panels for the rapidly growing LCD TV market.

The plant, located in Sakai Japan, will be the world’s first to handle 10th-gen glass substrates, which are larger than previous generations and reduce production costs per panel. Operations at the location are expected to commence in October.

It seems that Sony & other companies taking LCD TV’s pretty seriously and they’re investing in their technologies. Well, I’ve read somewhere that Sonyand another company (I think LG) abanonded Plasama TV because LCD TV’s has more potential than Plasma TV’s. They can upgrade LCD TV’s and hook them up with more technologies than the normal plasma TV. Now I am beginning to believe that. It seems with the Plasma TV’s they’ve reached a dead-end.

Living in the shadow of Gmail, Reader and Calendar’s got to be tough, but that’s what a slew of useful Google products do every day. We give Google’s front-running applications a lot of ink (or pixels, as it were), and the rest a passing mention in the fast-flowing river of news. Today’s top 10 pays homage to the little brother and sister Google products that you forgot all about.

10. Google Code Search

Mostly of interest only to programmers, Google Code Search is a pretty incredible mechanism for finding and browsing the innards of countless open source projects. Use the lang: operator to limit your results to a certain language, and search by developer name, file name, or comments. Here’s a search for the words “nasty hack” in PHP code—lang:PHP nasty hack—and here’s a search for Javascript authored by Gmail Macros developer Mihai Parparita.

A couple of years ago I started doing more and more web development and web design, and less and less desktop development. Here’s a few things I wish I’d known then:

1. Use a Reset Stylesheet

Different browsers are free to set default styles for font sizes, margins, and so forth. It’s a silly part of the specification but there you go. Rather than trying to eliminate these differences on a case-by-case basis, many web developers now make use of a reset stylesheet to set all margins to zero, remove all borders, standardize all font sizes, and so forth.

There’s dispute over which particular features need to be reset; but to be honest having any one of them is going to be better than none. Here’s a few examples:

2. Use a Browser Development Plug-In

Depending on your internet connection you might be able to download a lot more (or a lot less) than 1Mb in two seconds – but calling this a post about apps under a meg just isn’t quite as much fun!

No, you don’t really need to pay too much attention to an application’s hard drive footprint any more. After all, when you can buy a 1.5Tb drive for less than $150US, what difference does a few megs here or there make?

On the other hand, it’s amazing to see what some developers are able to accomplish with a very small amount of code.

There are a ton of great, free applications that have been created in less than 1Mb – I didn’t fully realize just how many until I started putting this list together. This is by no means a complete list, so if your favorite got overlooked make sure to share it in the comments!

Desktop/Shell Enhancements

Launchy (408Kb) – Hotkeys FTW! Launchy does more than hotkeys, of course, but even if you add a bucketload of plugins it’s still under 1Mb.

MY NEW STUDY PLAN

To_study_by_alma_lunar So I have been slacking for a little while behind, but now I have to start moving forward to one of my goals, which is to get an A at math. How can I do that? By studying more. There is a good website which offers ideas for studying incase you needed. http://www.how-to-study.com/ How to study dot com is a pretty good website. It provides alot of information on how to study and ways to study in a good easy way to read with printer friendly version.

So inorder to plan correctly, you’ll have to stop and assest the situation so you can see the big picture. There’re steps to be taken. First of all you’ll have to anylize your current situation and state your current problems. Secondly, you will have to brainstorm and research for proper solution. Thirdly, you’ll have to apply the solutions. Fourhtly, you will have to put an attack plan and you’ll have to exept obstacles and plan to counter those obstacles.

MY CURRENT SITUATION:

I study barely 30 minutes a day and that is when I feel to. I only do homeworks when I require and sometimes I ignore it. Whenever I open my laptop I forget myself and continue exploring the internet on my laptop and chatting with friends and posting in forums and finally, I never revise the subject after a lecture and before it and I dont take notes during one.

Now after I assessed my current situation and accepted that I have a problem, I am going to propose a proper solution for my problem which I can use.

SOLUTIONS TO MY PROBLEM:

I need now to pick a time where I can study effectivley on and do my homeworks on. I am thinking about seperating my homework from my actual study but I dont think it is a good idea. Anyway, my prime time is at the morning and on the afternoon around 2PM. So I have decided that I shouldn’t open the laptop unless I needed to AT night after 11:00 PM. This way, I wont be distracted by my laptop which I consider my biggest time waster.

You see, I spend on my laptop average of 6-8 hours a day on watching youtube, checking Emails, playing videos, chatting on MSN. This has to stop because this is not a way of living. My laptop is being destructive. Instead of reading and studying and focus on other aspects of life, I waste my time on the messenger chatting with people. That is why I am cutting up my laptop use to almost 2 hours so I can have time for better things to do other than chatting and watching videos.

I think my biggest obstacle to being productive is the evil “MSN Messenger” which is again, carried inside the laptops belly. Why? Because I log in to see whose online and start chatting with them. I stopped watching TV for the same reason that MSN messenger doing. Wasting countless hours with no income. So I spend 5 hours chatting with random people that wont do me any good later on. Same goes with TV, spending endless time on the sofa and at the end you get nothing. Nothing productive comes out of it.  So if I am going to use my laptop for productive stuff, I will have to uninstall the MSN messenger and any other thing that will waste my time.

Other thing I have noticed about myself is drinking one mug of coffee helps me concentrate on my book. I am a lazy person my nature and I love to sleep. So whenever I Am conforted with books I get bored and eventually I yearn to climb up my bed. So to counter that problem I drink coffee. Drinking coffeee makes me feel more energized and more concenrated, however excessive amounts cause me anixiety attacks and a headache. So moderate doses of caffiene is good for me  when I am studying.

DECISION & CONCLUSION:

Combine all that, I have reached to a conclusion. If I want to study I will have to choose a proper time for studying. A proper time for me right now is the morning before I go to university and in the afternoon after lunch. And when I study I will have to drink a mug of coffee inorder to enhance my ability to concentrate. And during my study peroid I will limit my use on computers to two hours before bed. Before those two hours, I will either study or do something construcitve.

Mark A has a price, and I am willing to pay that price.
